Come January 21st, 2024, businesses nationwide will begin to pay inflated postal rates, with First-Class Mail®, Marketing MailR and other USPS postage rates set to rise. USPS Marketing Mail® (formally known as standard rate) will experience a small increase of less than half a penny for popular letter rates. This seems to be a semi-annual situation. Be glad you don't live across the pond where it costs a lot more. This increase was part of a 10 year plan I believe.

The post office announced several years ago that they planned to raise rates every six months. So, rate increases should not come as a surprise.
