what do you do with them??

I saw a recipe boiling them with apple cider and I don't remember what else. They didn't really explain what to do with them after that...refrigerate my guess and serve them cold.

I just don't feel like dumping them out of a can this year!

Dee,
The way that I do it is:
Take a package of cranberries and dump them in a pan and pick them over like you would beans and then add about a cup or so of water and a cup of sugar and bring them to a boil and then simmer them with a lid on the pan because they will start popping open and all it takes is a few minutes to cook them and then pour them in a bowl and put them in the fridge because you want them cold.
Cranberries freeze very well too, cooked or raw.

Dee, here's what I do with cranberries:

Buy a bag of them from the produce dept. Get out my 3 large clear glass cylindrical containers in graduated heights (short, medium, tall), put some Christmas greenery in the bottom of each, fill 3/4 full with water, pour about an inch of cranberries over the top (they will float there), top off with a pretty holiday floating candle, and strike a match.

During the holiday season, check every 7-10 days for berries that are going bad, and replace from what you've got leftover in the bag in your refrigerator.

I have a feeling though that this isn't what you had mind, huh? Cranberries used in any other way don't excite me too much though. (G)

Dee, we grind them up with apples, oranges and pecans, mix with sugar and cherry jello and a can of crushed pineapple. Makes a great cranberry salad.

Sue,
Your cranberry salad recipe sounds yummy. Can you post the measurements of this recipe and more details.
Thanks!

One of my favorite things to do with fresh cranberries is to dip individually in melted almond bark or white chocolate for Christmastime...Makes a nice and different addition to all the different Christmas candies around during that time of the year. Just the right amount of sweet and tart! As for Thanksgiving, I have to stick with the ol' jellied cranberry sauce!
