One of the cool things we can do with this board, is to allow Member descriptions to be set based on the number of posts. For example, the default is set at 3 posts or less, New Member. Over 3 posts, Member.

We could set up some Christmas or Ornament related descriptions.
Examples
1-10 posts - Elf in Training
11-100 posts - Elf
100 -500 posts - Santa's Helper
500 or more posts - Santa

What do you think? Suggestions for alternatives?

Todd

I would be interested in how long a person has been in Yuleloggers or been on the board rather than the number of posts they have made or maybe it could be combined. I tend have more confidence in information from a member who has been on the board for a longer period of time rather than just how many posts they have. Some people don't have time for a lot of posts, but the have valuable information from having been reading the boards for a longer period of time. Of course if the intention is to get people to post more often then your original idea works great as an incentive for posting.

I appreciate all the work you are putting into changing over the boards.

I think keeping it to four levels is simplest, but also please keep numer of posts and keep date registered.

Like your ideas, Todd, and here are mine:

1 - 99 Curious About Collecting
100 - 299 Rookie Collector
300 - 999 Confirmed Collector
1000+ Too Much Free Time (just kidding) Certifiable Collector

OR -- this is really poor--but trying to tie into ornaments. Somebody can probably do it cleverly.

1 - 499 Level 1: Keepsake Miniature Member
500 - 999 Level 2: Keepsake Regular Member
1000 - 2999 Level 3: Keepsake Special Member
3000+ Level 4: Keepsake Magic Member

Does anyone get where I'm trying to go here? LOL!

You people are all too funny with your comments. I'm new to these boards, but I'm a charter member of the Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Club. I feel just because you haven't been on the boards that long doesn't necessary mean you don't know that much about Hallmark.

Welcome to YuleLog, Collector Joy! Believe me, we are all new to *these* boards because we just switched from an old style we've had for many years and we're all still in the adjusting stage. Hope to see you around for a long time!

Unfortunately, this member description feature can only be based on the number of posts...

I finally got here - I was a member years ago - back when AOL still had the message Boards for Hallmark! Then I didn't renew at all for many years (but I still collected Hallmark fast and heavy). I rejoined this past year, but never could figure out how to post, etc. until I got an email from Todd today! Thanks Todd!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully - I can be more active now! I just got my Christmas packed away finally yesterday!!!!!!!

Welcome back, Lynn! It is a relief to finally get the decorations put away isn't it? For me it means more cleaning in every room though, just to sweep up all the "needles" that fall off my fake trees, wreaths and garlands! (Edited for spelling since I don't take the time to spellcheck! )

Lynn, I remember you from the AOL board. I was Ezbilly, then!!I just tried to get my own avatar so I going to see if it appears. Got my fingers crossed. Alan

PS- I'm back. I amazed. It actually worked. Sitting with Santa is my grand-niece, Adyson. This Christmas was her first.

I like this group the best, although all suggestions were great. Maybe add a few levels . . .

1-10 posts - Elf in Training
11-100 posts - Elf
101-500 - Chief Elfineer of Toy Design
501-1000 - Director of Elves
1001-2500 - Santa's Right-Hand Elf OR Head Elf (in my case I'd be Left-Hand Elf . . . LOL or VP of Elves
2501 or more - Honorary Santa Claus

Whatever you use it will be a fun addition to the new boards and avatars and other features. Thanks again for the new boards and all your hard work this past week.

Todd, I think you did a great job! I'm sure you know, you can't get everyone to agree all the time.
Awesome job and thanks!

I think it will encourage people to post more. I love hearing about other collectors ideas and thoughts.
