I just got this old hallmark retailer catalogue from 1979, it shows this ornament called Holiday Flight, it's wood and I've never seen one before. I'm guessing it was never produced, but would like to know if anyone has any info on this item....

Kate, I emailed you privately about this one while I was checking my facts, but didn't hear back from you. Can you tell us anything more from the retailers guide, or about the other two I mention below, photos even?
I have the 1979 Holiday Flight w/o a box but didn't know the name. Thanks for finally giving it a name and year. I'd still like to know the item# and price. When I got this one I was told that it was a prototype, and I only know of one other. According th the dealer they both came from a former Hallmark employee, and they're the only 2 she's seen. So I don't really know if it was issued or not, but I do know its rare. I know some serious collectors of the trimmers that don't have one. I'd be curious to hear if anyone else out there has one, and if anyone has one in the box. From the looks of the packaging, it almost looks like it was intended for the Keepsake line. Were any other trimmers packaged nicely like this, I thought they usually didn't have any packaging?
Years ago Joan Ketterer published a Hallmark Guide "Deck the Halls" that had most of the trimmers included, and I understand this one was included.
The ornament itself is rather plain and cheap looking. Its made of wood and the wings slide into the body of the plane. Santa is sitting in an airplane that says "NORTH POLE AIRWAYS" on the green bottom half of the plane. The propeller spins around, and there's a hole for hanging the ornament in Santa's glove.
I understand that three trimmers made in 1979: 1) a jointed lamb, 2) a jointed Teddy bear, and 3) this airplane. All three are hard to find, but the Santa in the airplane is the hardest to find of this group.
Anyone have the lamb or teddy bear trimmer?

Hey Tim, I've gotten and replied to both of your emails, I don't know why you didn't get them. The item number for the ornament is 500QX1427 , it's definitely an item number for a regular issue keepsake ornament with a price of $5 , none of the trimmers cost that much back then. I guess we'll just have to assume it was never produced, but the other ornaments you mention - Jointed Lamb or Jointed teddy bear, neither of them appear in this book.

Kate,
Thanks for posting here. I had received quite a bit of SPAM from your email host (not from you), and blocked that domain. I found your emails in my SPAM folder.
Sounds like you only have the retailer Keepsake guide, the trimmers would probably be in a separate guide, possibly with other things like the stockings, etc.
This is curious. Sounds like they intended to issue it in the Keepsake line and dropped it. I wonder if it was really issued as a trimmer (likely w/o the box) and a lower price point, and if it looks the same. Or, if that was a previous guess and mistake by those who put the earlier guides together.
Looking closely at mine again, I don't see the Hallmark copyright mark anywhere. Likely because it was a prototype.
Has anyone else seen this one, the lamb or teddy bear?
Tim

FYI... I've confirmed that there was a similar wooden airplane issued in 1983 as part of the "Toyland Trimmers" collection, but its also clearly different from the Keepsake design.
This set is the hardest to find of all the trimmers, there were 3 different ones, made of die-cut wood, two are jointed.
The airplane trimmer is painted red/gray instead of red/green and natural. There is no propeller. Santa's hands are driving the plane instead of waving, and the wings show the alerons.
Santa in Plane 250QHT5027
The other two trimmers from this set are: 1983 Lamb (plastic jointed) 250QHT501 1983 Teddy Bear (wood jointed) 250QHT5029
Does anyone have these trimmers?

Yes, I recently acquired 2 of the teddy bear and lamb trimmers. Once I figure out how to post a photo, I will do so. I'm not sure why they call them "wood look" as they are not made of wood, but simply plastic.

They are what is considered trimmers.... they have what I would call like a necklace loop for you to put an ornament hanger on if you wanted, most likely used as a package trimmer, you would run ribbon thru the loop and add it to a gift.
