Hi, I'm new to this board, and I want to sell some of my ornaments and I'm wondering if you can tell me where is the best place to sell ornaments? I know Ebay has ornaments on auction, but they look mostly to be the new stuff, so I'm wondering if this would hurt my efforts to maximize reciepts...am unemployed and have to sell off stuff. Thanks!!!

Sansol,
First of all make a list of what you have, then decide how much you want for it.

Post some of them with description etc on the for sale board here at Yulelog. Folks are always trying to fill in what they missed in previous years of Hallmark buying so don't worry if it's not the new stuff or even brand new.

Read the For Sale board and you'll get the idea. Just be prepared - make your list and check it twice, you will of course need to figure out shipping with the buyer and payment policy.

I would try this board before going to any online auction service because of the fees involved.

Secondly, have you tried any consignment shops and the like yet? I'm sure you have other items to sell besides ornaments. Good luck and best wishes to you!

This is probably the best place to start. If nothing else, you have unlimited resources with years of experience who will be happy to help you list and determine value.
Just for the heck of it you might want to go to Ebay just to see what the items you are selling are currently going for or have recently sold for.

Good luck,
Steve

Sansol,

I was raised in Worcester and would love to hear what you have to sell. I would have emailed you directly, but you didn't register your email address. One suggestion I have is that you can contact someone like Nicki, at Hooked on Hallmarks. She will give you trades or credit or money (I think!) for a collection. If you need to get money quickly, this would be fast. Also, less shipping. I have dealt with Nicki for many years and have never been disapointed. Email me if you have the chance and we can compare notes on Worcester. Have much snow??? Jane

At the risk of carrrying this topic way off course, I am going to chime in with connections to Worcester, too! I grew up in Dudley, MA and we would do all our "serious" shopping in Worcester (my sister graduated from Clark).
But back to your ornaments....if you list them on Yulelog's Buy/Sell/Trade Board (and it's free), you can set your price rather than be at the mercy of ebay...but then again it all depends on what you have to sell...if it's a highly sought after one, you may do better on ebay with competitive bidding.
