Hi Sean,

I see the price for Yulelog is $45, plus $5 for shipping. How much is the update? I'm assuming the $45 is for new users.

Thanks.

Sean,

If Yulelog 2012 wasn't installed (but 2011 was) would I have an issue installing 2013? In other words would anything I manually entered into 2012 be transferred to the 2013 database?

Sean,

Of the issues I raised last year, the only one I can see that has clearly been corrected is this one, which has probably been fixed by the ability to turn off the "Hooked on Ornaments" button:

- I don't like that "Hooked on Ornaments" has space on software that I
have to pay for. I don't recall that customers were told ahead of time
that "Hooked on Ornaments" would have a place in this program.

I speculate that may have also corrected this issue, but that's not certain from what Sean has said so far:

- Oddly "Hooked on Ornaments" is cut-off at the top of each page/screen. When the Price Guide is scrolled to the top using the scroll bar handle the top item (#1) can not be seen without using the scroll bar Up arrow key to move the list down to see #1, using the scroll bar handle won't bring it into sight.

I also suspect that some of my remaining issues (maybe the first 4 listed below?) may have been corrected by the new "importing files that will update the Price Guide" feature described by Sean, but it's again hard to say from the description given. Other than maybe those 4, as far as I can tell for certain from what Sean has said, the following issues have not been corrected:

- Data about ornaments is frequently not filled in (Box Price) in places where it was automatically filled in the past.

- Many ornaments don't have photos or information (pre-2012 ornaments). Some photos that were present in the prior edition are gone now.

- #1 of my collection in Ornament Details is blank! The item that was #1 in last edition of Yulelog is now #2 and #1 is blank. I'm shown to
have 1814 ornaments when the last edition only showed that I have 1809
ornaments. That means there are either five blanks or some duplicates
or some corrupted data (I have not yet entered my 2012 ornaments).

- Right off the bat, I don't like that the display screen is bigger than my computer screen and apparently I have to zoom out every time I open the program. Each session the zoom percentage starts at 150 and doesn't remember from session to session that I've changed it to 100.

- This update was clearly not tested on monitors of different sizes &
resolutions, text and labels are frequently cut off and can not be read.

- I also don't like that only 8 "ornaments" appear on the screen at one time in "List All" etc. I imagine the use of data entry boxes is the reason. I liked the previous (2011) programs where I could see the Price Guide/List All without the boxes and wasted space.

- Do the photos in PRICE GUIDE and LIST ALL have to show-up every time I open that folder? The program will not remember from session to
session that I turned them off.

- Screen & Window Sizing doesn't stick from session to session.

debbieg, I'm not Sean, but I do remember that due to the change in the way it operated, you have to install the 2012 and do a conversion if you want to keep all the information that you've entered. You won't be able to go from 2011 to 2013 and keep your data.

Thanks Linda. I'm still hoping Sean will respond to the other issues I mentioned.

Sean,

Please give us the price of the 2013 Yulelog Database, just the updated version. Also will you be giving the Yulelog Club members a discount this year, like your father used to do?

Does anyone know what the 2013 Yulelog Database update will cost?

Sean,

I just realized that the photo for the 1993 Frosty Friends (anniversary ornament of Frosty decorating his igloo) is not in the 2012 database but it is in the 2011.

I can now answer my own question.

It's $25 including shipping.

I just preordered it.

Sean,

I see you handed out pre-orders of Yulelog at the KOC event. Does that mean you've sent ones (through the mail) that were pre-ordered last month?

Also, I've found several ornaments that had photos in the 2011 (old version) Yulelog but did not show up in the 2012 version. How do we know this glitch has been fixed in the 2013 version/update?

Has anyone installed their 2013 of Yulelog yet? I picked up my Update in KC this weekend. I've just gotten home and have installed it. First, it did not copy over all the pictures I put in last year. I was told this would not be a problem going forward. Also, it has the wrong ornament pictures in the spots where the right ornament pictures should be. I am so not happy right now. Just trying to see if anyone else if having this problem. Thanks.

I think I paid $20 for the update at the KOC event. Planning on installing it tonight, and will let everyone know of any glitches/issues

Michele, as someone who has done work with people who develop and support programs, I suggest that you contact Sean and give his some information to help him know where to look for the problems. He may need to see where you entered your own pictures so he may end up contacting you to have you send him some files (he'd know which ones to ask for and not the whole database and your files). For the problem with the wrong pictures appearing, I'd suggest you make a list of as many as you have found, saying "this ornament has the wrong picture" and if you know what ornament is showing up you might add that to your list. That would help him to find where his problem can be found. You should also tell him if these ornaments were in your database before you did the update or if these were ornaments you were just adding; if it's caused by the update Sean will need to do different work than if it's how they are coded in the database so that additions come up wrong.

I checked the 2013 additions, looking at the item number, title, series information (name and number in series), artist name, Gold Crown exclusive identification, colorway information, prize information, limited release indicator and event like Ornament Premiere or Comic Con, KOC event identifier, KOC membership kit identifier, original price and picture. I checked to make sure that all of the ornaments we knew about were included in the update. I hope you're not finding problems with these since I try to be very careful when checking information like this!

Does anyone else have trouble with their pictures not printing out when you run a report? Most of my collection is my own pictures, but some are still the pictures from the price guide and neither of them are printing when I run reports. Just thought I'd ask if anyone else is having this problem. I have told Sean about both my problems. He fixed the one with my pictures not converting over.

Michele, I haven't tried printing anything & I don't use my own photos, but I haven't purchased the 2013 yet because I haven't been comfortable with the 2012 version yet. Am disappointed at the amount of photos missing that were there before. Therefore, I've been hesitant about purchasing the 2013 and am watching the various comments & problems, hoping to see them resolved before I consider it. Hope you're able to get your issue resolved. Btw, missed seeing you & your friends at the event. smile

Considering a lot of us add our own photos this is a real problem. I don't understand why Sean doesn't respond to the questions and problems in this thread.

Michele, can you tell us how to correct the problem with self-loaded photos not showing up in the 2013 update.

No problem with sharing the fix for this problem. Here is what his email said "Actually, you'll need to perform some extra steps, but it is possible to get your photos and everything transferred.

Please watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8D3XvF-WWQ&feature=youtu.be"

I still cannot get the pictures to print out when I run a report though and he hasn't responded to that email, so I don't have a fix for that. Good luck. Make sure you are ready to take notes when watching the youtube video.

Once again, this program is not recognizing the backup file.

WE followed the instructions, but the program does not want to import the file.
I have Scott help me with this and he is a DBA for a living, so he know what he's doing.
Did anyone else have this issue and if so, how did you correct it?
thank you!

Jim
