My daughter came over this weekend and suggested lets put a tree! That's all it took. We set up a 7.5 @ 6.5. Have not fully decorated them yet but close. Anybody else start decorating?

Not yet Dana, but plans are in the works. Probably see the first tree go up here next week.

Spent today figuring out the decorating schedule. I started moving furniture and cleaning so the first tree can go up tomorrow. So glad I am not alone in getting started. My hope is that the last tree will be finished the night of Thanksgiving. So glad to know others are getting started too.

When my kids were growing up we always decorated our big family tree Thanksgiving night. We would string popcorn and cranberries while we watched our first Christmas movie of the season. Starting so late meant I had to really hustle to finish decorating my house as my collection grew. Now that my kids are grown I start decorating early and find I can take my time and enjoy it more.

I find it fun that everyone has different decorating traditions. It keeps the excitement alive throughout the season.

My plan is to take back the Halloween stuff to storage, grab some Thanksgiving items . . . and a bunch of Christmas stuff as daughter really wants to decorate when she is home Thanksgiving week. I would have done it this week but was a tad bit under the weather. Crazy inner ear issues so carrying boxes on chunky gravel @ the storage parking lot and up and down steps at the house are probably not a good idea. But I'm rarin' to go for it this week. \:\)

I put mother's tree up at her apartment on October 22. She has all my blown glass ornaments and has been decorating it off and on for the last week and just finished it today. She has always enjoyed these 140 count chasing lights sets I bought years ago. This is the first time in 7 years she has a tree with just the chasing lights. I'm going to try to get some pictures, but the light sets do 8 functions and her favorite is what I call epileptic seizure mode because they are flashing so fast. Her favorite setting is my least favorite, but that's how it works out sometimes.

Bill and I put up outside lights today. I looked around after dark while we were outside admiring them and told him that no one else in the neighborhood had anything up yet. That got a laugh out of him.

We'll start moving stuff and making room for a tree now.

I have started...

Also, my oldest son is out of the house this year. He asked me if I would go over and help him (and his girlfriend) with their tree! I miss him terribly and plan to go this weekend. I guess he has embraced the tradition to do it early! YAY!!!

Oh gosh, I didn't even think about this being our son's first year in his own home. LOVE that some of you are already at work decorating!

I'm so jealous! You have trees up. Ashley, please let me know when you have photos for us to look at!! I look forward to seeing everyones photos.

I'll have to waiting this year. Looks like we will have to have Thanksgiving with lots of guest. I'm still trying to get all my yard work wrapped up before it too late. I still have to clean out my black raspberry bed, chop on another honeysuckle, get my figs settled in for the winter, and the list goes on. My cats are still fighting. I'm still working on my fencing for my living room tree to keep them away from it.

Halloween is not over yet. At least here in NJ. The Gov. pushed it back until Today because of the destruction from Sandy. Several towns are still pushing it back another week becuase alot of NJ is still without power ( and the poor people at the shore area are without anything)

Off to a good start, hoping to be finished the weekend before Thanksgiving so I can enjoy other aspects of the season. So far have up two big trees and three small trees. I can't remember how many trees I have total, but four more big ones and six small ones, for sure. To me, the trees are the easy part; it's the window & door garlands and tabletop displays that seem to take more time. No, wait. It's not the decorating that takes time, it's the decluttering and cleaning before decorating that takes time!

Almost done putting Halloween away. Going to skip the Thanksgiving decorations this year and go straight to Christmas. Working a full time job and a part time job doesn't leave a lot of time to decorate. I used to never start Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving. I'm breaking tradition this year.

I put my tree up on Halloween morning for the trick-or-treaters.
