Just bought two more of the elves today, had a 50% off coupon from Michael's, it's the two on the ladder. I'm hoping to take the elves off and use them in my kitchen display. I'm going to try and make little white aprons for all 4 elves. I liked the smaller elves, I think their size will go with my Possible Dreams Santa and Mrs. Claus, I can't wait to start working on it.

Yesterday while going to different Hallmark stores to find the Lego Darth Vader, I found a Hallmark server for 60% off and thought that it might work as a table for my Santa. Today, I found a Yankee Candle tart burner for 10 cents at a high school flea market...I think it will work quite well until I find something better. The picture gives you an idea of the proportions. I still have to clean up both of my new acquisitions...not looking forward to cleaning up the tart burner as it still has candle wax on the top and where the tea light burns. And, now I would love to find chairs for my new "table!!" Sue Pasadena, Maryland

Sue, that is really creative thinking! I have that cake stand and never thought of using it for a table for Santa.
LOVE the tart burner stove. That is really adorable, already has a pie cooling on the rack, and the price was fantastic. Wax cleans up pretty quickly and easily, try warming it a little first.

Sue, put your burner in the freezer over night. Wax comes right off.

Very clever Sue, I like that server used for a table, smart thinking. I also like your stove tart burner, you really got a deal on both of them. Congratulations!

Sue you van try putting the wax burner in the freezer for 5 minutes. The wax should pop right out. Use a butter knife or something like if so not to scratch the tart warmer.

Oh my gosh Sue, that stove looks like it was made for your display. I want one too!
I second the freezer reccommendation but only a few minutes are needed in the freezer when removing melted tarts that have rehardened. To remove, use a wooden toothpick pressed down one of the tart's edges. You'll be amazed how easily they pop out! I have flat toothpicks that break easily. I think round toothpicks would work better for this purpose.
For other wax clean-up, I'd put the stove tart burner in the freezer for a longer period of time as suggested in Emma's earlier post.
I'm new to using Yankee Candle jars, tumblers, samplers, tarts, and tea lights and have learned a lot in the last couple of months from members of their Facebook page. You will be amazed by how many Christmas food scents are available, which also could add to your display!

Sue, I love your little tart burner stove and have searched on Ebay for one. Didn't find one like yours but will keep checking. I too, didn't even think about using the cake plate as a table. Is that the smaller one of the two piece set? That's a great idea! While searching for the stove on Ebay, I did see a picture that reminded me that I have my childhood tin refrigerator that might work in my display. Will have to find it and see if the size is proportional to my Santa & Mrs. Claus. Thanks for the inspiration, Sue! Terri

Sue, are there any markings on that Yankee Candle Oven, perhaps the year? Maybe we can go from there to find it.

For all of us embarking on our baking theme displays (new displays and old displays), I think it might be fun to post guest/family/friends reactions to these creations! If someone pays you a complement or makes a funny remark, anything you think we would find interesting, please post it here!

I got got elves sitting at the table and the elves on the ladder yesterday. They're on sale 40% off. A couple of the table ones had items missing. The little present that the elf sitting on the table holds was missing, a couple of the toys on some were missing. I don't what someone would do with these...I mean they looked like they were pulled off and you could see the glue spot clearly. Strange. So pay attention carefully if you buy the elves sitting at the table. They weren't sold out but you could tell they have sold quite a few.

If you are buying any of these elves, check carefully for missing parts. The glue used isn't really permanent at all. The gal ringing out my baking elf holding the tray of cookies accidentally snapped off the tray. I told her not to worry about it, I still wanted that particular elf. I can always glue the tray back down if I want, or now he can hold something else. I spent at least 15 minutes looking at the elves to get the one I liked the most, so the tray was secondary to me.

FYI Target has a Gingerbread girl on a baking sheet ornament. Not ever seen a Gingerbread girl on a baking sheet ornie before, so I grabbed one. Mine was found where the individually glass ornaments were hanging but this one is not glass.

Mine was found where the individually glass ornaments were hanging but this one is not glass. I bought the pair, couldn't resist. The ornaments are 4 3/16"L (including handle) x 2 6/16"W. One has a red gingham bow attached at the handle, the other a green gingham bow (which I obviously removed). Gingerbread cookie recipe is on the back. I also found this gingerbread cookie trim at Joann fabrics in the Christmas section. The gingerbread men are 1"L and are painted on both sides.

I went to Target tonight but couldn't find the gingerbread on tray ornaments. Drat. I'm hoping they just haven't unpacked them yet...
