http://curiozitycorner.blogspot.com/2010/08/wicked-ornament-just-released.htmlAccording to that. LI Treasures has already started shipping them out. My tracking number is confirming that it'll arrive today. Can't wait to see it in person and hear it! It'll tide me over until Debut.

I found the book at a garage sale and am looking forward to reading it. I just called our local American Greetings store. They recieved at total of six and said that if I buy one, I can get a second ornament half off.

Yeah, that's usually their deal (buy 1 get the second half off). It's why I think they overprice them.
I was pleasantly surprised in the invoice that the shipping was cheaper than I thought, so with the 20% discount and shipping, it was only a quarter over the box price! Would have cost me more than that for sales tax, plus I'd have to travel to another county to get it.
Love it! It's not as big as I thought (which is good since I thought it would be the size of the TSO one and that's huge), and the sound clip's great! Very, very pleased and Long Island Treasures was very easy to order from. They'll get my Carlton Card business in the future.
Have fun reading the book! I love that book (in my top 10 favorites) and have read it several times. I've got the edition that ties-in with the musical, so it has some photographs from the original production. I've also got the musical's book (The Grimmerie I think) and the CD for the musical.

I had mine in hand from Long Island Treasures when I did my blog post. It's smaller than I expected. It's a neat ornament and just about everything Wicked does well. There are so few collectibles outside the show. But I have to say Carlton needs to work on quality control. Mine has some rough and badly painted spots on it and they should have made her look more like prototype instead of trying to "pretty" her up I guess. Not real crazy about the new eyes and lips.

I was at an American Greeting store 2 weeks ago and was told that they didn't know when the ornaments would be in. I asked why the delay in stocking them this year and the manager told me that Carlton Cards was under new management (?) and didn't want to display the ornaments too early...hmmm.
I'll give them a call to see if the ornaments are in because I would love to see the Wicked ornament.

No worse than Hallmark this year. Carlton Cards' sculpting skills are subpar to Hallmark in general, but the quality control is about the same (if not slightly better with Carlton...hate to say it, but it seems to be true). Mine had a little scratch on her dress, but it's black on black and not noticeable. The sound is good, though when has CC had bad sound? Hallmark finally took a cue from them and worked on sound quality (started fixing it in 2005 or 2006 if memory serves. I think '05 because the Maxine singing one sounds better than the Maxine cash register one of '04). I actually prefer the smaller size. And, if they went up in size, they'd go up in price. The Phantom ornaments are around $40. I was expecting that to be the price tag for this one because I do own a Phantom one (after Christmas sale at Kohl's a couple of years ago), so I knew the price point for Broadway ornaments by CC. Very happy and surprised with the price point for this one. My biggest beef with Carlton Cards and American Greetings is that last year, they took some Carlton Cards ornament designs from 2 to 4 years ago, boxed them up as American Greetings and sold them at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc for $5-$8. That's so unfair for collectors who bought them for $12-$20.

That's so unfair for collectors who bought them for $12-$20. That's just good business. They're just unloading old stock from their inventory that they have to pay taxes on. I'm sure they would have loved to unload them in their stores at full price but you don't want them on your inventory for very long. I kind of wonder if they were actually old ornaments. I think, more likely, they were remakes of older ornaments that they used to fill their line of cheaper ornaments that are usually sold at big box department stores like Wal-Mart and Target.

I'm fairly certain they were remakes because while Carlton Cards doesn't usually date like Hallmark does, there is typically a copyright date or something of the like and the reboxed ones weren't dated.
To me, it's bad business because it can make collectors turn away from a brand. Why pay full when you can get it for a third of the price in a couple of years? If Hallmark did it, I'd most likely stop trusting them and wouldn't buy as much in favor of waiting.
They never did it with licensed pieces, just the unlicensed.

I got the Carlton Cards Beatles ornament in 2008. In 2009 they had another one & I thought it can't be the same it has to be different in some way. I got it home & sure enough it was the same exact one with a different year on the bottom of the box. They let me return it since I had the receipt & it was well before Christmas. They have the same one available again this year. They closed all the stores by me now so I guess I will have to order the ornaments I want this year online. In the store I was able to take advantage of the buy one get one 50% off. I usually get 2 each (1 for me, 1 for my dad) of the Beatles ornaments & they have 2 new ones this year. Not to mention that my family loves Wicked & I wanted to get 2 each (1 for me, 1 for my daughter) of that one too.

I saw the Wicked ornament tonight at the American Greetings store. The only one around. The sound is great! I thought it would be bigger for the price. I was only kind of impressed by the sculpting. I didn't get it but MAY get it later. I was really impressed with the Phantom Of The Opera but $40.00?? I did get a Phantom one a couple of years ago from Kohls after-Christmas sale.

I went to American Greetings to check out the ornaments. I thought the Wicked ornament was very nice. My store only had about half the ornaments out. I was told there were more to come.
I am really disappointed with their catalog because it only features some of the ornaments not all of them :-(

Does anyone know... Doesn't KOHL's carry the Carlton ornament line? Are there any other stores other than Amer Greeting stores that carry the Carlton line?

Kohl's does, but they carry a very, very limited amount of them. Last year they had maybe 10-15 designs max for Carlton Cards. And they didn't carry the Phantom one last year, so that's why I don't think they'll carry Wicked.

Well, my Kohl's isn't carrying any ornaments this, Hallmark or Carlton Cards :-( I'd cry! I adore Kohl's because they do 20-25% off before Christmas and it's a tradition for me to get A Pony for Christmas from them (as well as a few others). Especially now that it had the biggest price increase. I'm hoping to get the big magic Peanuts one, Snowball and Tuxedo, Star Wars Luke, Two-Gun Mickey, and a few others from Kohl's this year. And Kohl's opens first for after Christmas sales.
