Haven't seen this posted, but I may have overlooked it. This year there will be three versions of the Dreambook. KOC members will get a magazine sized version containing insider knowledge for club members only, with larger photos of ornaments. There will be a "devoted shoppers" version they will actually mail out to customers who buy ornaments but do not belong to KOC. Then there will be a third version that will be in stores. The KOC version will begin mailing on April 17.

How will they determine who is a "devoted shopper"? My guess is from the Store or Gold Crown Members.

Wow, that's pretty interesting. I guess Hallmark, like the rest of the country, really needs more business to keep afloat in this economy.

versions of the dream book:
Because it�s the most comprehensive
marketing tool for Hallmark Keepsake
Ornaments, this year�s Dream Book comes
in three editions.
Dream Book versions
Each 2009 Dream Book version is
designed to appeal to a major ornamentbuying
group:
���� Keepsake Ornament Club (KOC)
members. These fans have strong
affinity for the brand, crave the �inside
scoop� about ornament designs and feel
connected to the Keepsake Ornament
artists. That�s why the KOC version of
the 2009 Dream Book is a magazinesize
publication containing insider
knowledge for club members only, and
larger photos of ornaments to highlight
each design�s detail. This version begins
arriving in the homes of about
85,000 KOC members
April 17. It includes a
KOC application and
a wish list. See the
Special incentives
section of this story
for news about a
KOC bonus-point
offer.
���� Devoted shoppers.
This version, which
is the same size as the
2008 Dream Book,
begins arriving
April 24 in the homes of
140,000 devoted Keepsake Ornament
buyers who are not KOC members �
the first time Hallmark has mailed the
Dream Book to a non-KOC audience in
an effort to get them to join the KOC.
This version speaks directly to the
devoted shoppers about how the 2009
ornament lineup was created with their
decorating and gift-giving needs in
mind. It includes a wish list and a KOC
application. See the Special incentives
section of this story for news about
how these shoppers get bonus points
when they join the KOC.
���� Moms and other gift-givers. You�ll
showcase this in-store version, which
will be part of the April sample, in your
Keepsake Ornament display. Positioned
to appeal to moms and other gift-givers,
it also is the same size as last year�s
Dream Book, but will feature a different
cover photo than the version mailed to
devoted shoppers. It does not include a
wish list or a KOC application; you�ll
display applications next to it.
Special incentives
To entice KOC members to visit your
store at least once before June 1 and again
during Ornament Premiere, the KOC
version of the Dream Book offers KOC
members 500 Crown Rewards bonus
points when they turn in a Keepsake
Ornament wish list with a completed wish
list coupon by June 1. Members
can write wish lists
on any piece of paper
in any format, but
they must complete
the coupon in the
KOC version of
the Dream Book
and attach it to
their wish list.
Keep and fulfill the
wish lists, but send
the coupons to the
Hallmark fulfillment
center to ensure your
KOC shoppers get their bonus
points.
To entice your devoted shoppers to join
the KOC, their version of the Dream Book
will include an offer for 500 Crown Rewards
bonus points if they join the KOC
by July 31. This incentive helps build the
roster of KOC members, who are among
Hallmark�s very best consumers. KOC
members typically spend five times more
annually compared to the average spending
of Crown Rewards members.
The membership application points out
that devoted shoppers won�t pay shipping
charges if they complete the application
through your store and request that their
membership ornaments ship to you.
˛ Check when completed:
o Told staff about the three different
versions of the 2009 Dream Book,
noting that you�ll receive only one
version to distribute in your store.
o Reviewed incentive offers that will
appear in KOC and devoted shopper
Dream Book versions. Ensured that
staff is ready to promote and handle
them.
o Returned KOC members� wish list
coupons to the Hallmark fulfillment
center by June 30 to ensure members
get bonus points as advertised in the
KOC Dream Book.

In regards to increasing business for Hallmark in these tough times, I have a suggestion: why not let people outside the U.S. and Canada be able to sign up for the Ornament Club? I wouldn't mind paying the extra shipping charge to get the ornaments shipped to Britain.

Sandy My main store was shipped the Canadian prices for their display last year or maybe it was 2007 . . . but I can tell you when I came in Premiere weekend, I did a DOUBLE-TAKE on those prices until she said "ignore those prices"~!!!!
