Nancy, I've been saying this for a long time actually. If you scroll down to my post, you'll see it as part of my signature. I saw this painted on a plaque at a craft show once & had to have it.

Just missing California at the moment. Kansas should be released in a few weeks, and West Virginia by the end of 2005.

Thanks Melissa for the California quarter. Let me know if I can find anything for you on the east coast.

I guess I'm rather new to the Club, so I'm not on the list. I heard if you have three of anyone type of an item you have a Collection. So here are my collections:

Hallmark
Dept 56 Villages
Hallmark & Dept.56 Club Pins
Hummels
Jim Shore
Teddy Bears
Duck Decoies
Duck Plates
Longaberger Baskets
I'm sure I have more somewhere in this house, but please don't tell my husband!

Christmas ornaments are my first love. I also collect Boyds Dollstones, Hill Design Ceramic Quilt Tiles, I have a few Jim Shore pieces and several Brown Bag Cookie Molds. My husband is a die hard Nascar fan and has a room full of Earnhardt & Earnhardt Jr. collectibles.

Great topic!
I'll also collect Anri wood carvings, mostly religious ones. My most recent figurine is St. Nicholas. The detail on these is absolutely beautiful! I got started on these when I first started working at St. Joseph's Infirmary, now Hospital, here in Atlanta. These were available in the gift shop. Its more difficult to find Anri now and I don't like the newer figurines that they have.
I went through a plate phase, too, but that's over! I have so many of them still in the shipping boxes! I do have several out; some of my house plates are in the bedroom, some ships are in the hall, and half my TITANIC plates are in the living room on a shelf along with a model of the ship itself.
I've been a half hearted Disney pin collector. I have the whole millennium pin series and parts of other sets that Disney has done. That was fun going every Friday for about 3 months to buy 7 pins so that I'd have the whole set! I enjoyed doing that! I like Peter Pan, Mickey and Donald Duck mostly.
I also have some Precious Moments. Most of them remind me of my family so I get them when I see something that brings certain people, like my neice, Wendy, and her children to mind.
And, of course, I collect Santas! Most of these are porcelain and very "Old World" in style. I like Santa to remind me of St. Nicholas, his inspiration.
Great topic! Thanks for starting this one!

Ralph

Along with Hallmark ornaments I collect

Artesania Rinconada figurines - mainly the older designs
the state quarters
salt and pepper shakers
postcards

As a kid, I collected view master reels. I still have them all along with the little viewer and a projector!

Still the same collections, and a couple of new ones. Hallmark continues to be No. 1. In addition to antique toy irons and European glass figural ornaments, I now have several Jim Shore Santas of various sizes. I'd forgotten about the state quarters and they are almost finished. I've now customized four Hallmark ornaments and plan to do five or six more this year, so there's another collection.

My newest collection seems to be empty picture frames, which are everywhere in my house--closets, drawers, under the beds. Apparently I hope to someday fill them with photos of family and friends.

Thanks for bumping a fun topic, Deana!

I happened to come across it while searching for a list of the Christmas Keepsake themed Springbok puzzles, which I didn't find, and thought it would be fun to bump. I think I can also add "empty" picture frames to a new collection for me too. LOL

I did discover that now you can search for a 5 year time frame which was a nice and needed addition vs. a year at a time.

Precious Moments dolls: http://www.geocities.com/luckdragonslair
Monopoly sets
Mattel "I Love Lucy" dolls (only missing the Christmas Ethel, and I plan to buy the Christmas Ricky when it comes out next month, but I only want the 12 inch and 11 and a half inch dolls, not the small "Kelley" dolls)
Disney Storybook volumes
Postage Stamps
Various other Christmas ornaments

I used to collect Barbie dolls, but besides the Lucy ones, there are only 2 I'm willing to buy if I find them cheap enough, and that's Winter Princess (only 1 I'm missing in the collection) & Rembrandt (only 1 I'm missing in the Artist's series). And if they ever do anymore Society Hound dolls, I'll buy them.

I collect a few other things besides Hallmark ornaments:

Books (mostly fictional novels)
snowmen (ornaments, stuffed, figurines, bowls/dishes, candle holders, etc.)
Disney figurines
Snoopy figurines (I only have a few of these though)
Sworovski ornaments
Sworovski crystal animals
Texas capitol ornaments
Disney ornaments (especially Tigger)
Disney stuffed characters (especially Tigger)
CDs,DVDs and video games
Logic puzzle and Sudoku magazines
Trivial Pursuit board games

I think that's about it for now. I didn't realize I collected so much. :-)

Can't believe I never responded to this topic... Mark would say, "TOO MUCH!"

I seriously collect:
Hallmark, naturally
books about Tom Swift, Jr
books written by Jasper Fforde and his special issue post cards
small Robots
Action Figures (especially Star Trek and Star Wars, but haven't purchased much in the past five years. Would like some Dr. Who someday)
Travel icons of places visited (Statue of Liberty, Atomium, Big Ben etc)
small teddy bears
Theater programs from shows I've seen
rocks my kids have picked up and liked from hikes
Trolls - used to buy a couple a month but haven't bought any in several years. Would love to add a nice lion and monkey troll to my collection someday.
Christmas ornaments in general, recently started collecting new figural glass.
Christmas trees/wreaths/display items
larger Santa figures (just bought three Possible Dreams...a new collection!)

I half heartedly collect
Dolls/Barbies - have just a handful but really like the ones I have
Teddy bears - just a few really special ones
Shakespeare stuff - so much out there; I only have a shelf of select pieces
Harry Potter books - have the ones I've read, plus a few UK editions
Art books - books dedicated to specific artists or museum collections. I like pretty pictures! LOL. I didn't mean to collect these but one day I noticed I had a shelf full.
Mr. Potato Heads - didn't mean to collect these either, but I laughed so hard at "Darth Tater" that I was given it as a gift and now they keep giving me funny Mr. Potato head dolls as gifts (like "Taters of the Lost Ark")
Stamps - both used and new - I love the full sheets of shiny images, but also tear off used stamps. Have never done anything with them but pile them up so not much of a collection
Coins - foreign coins left over from trips, odd coins that end up in my change, state quarters and other special issues over the years like bicentennial quarters and President gold dollars etc.
Pins - misc ones that I like, a few from the World's fair we attended a few years' back, NASA ones issued at JPL
Teddy figurines on sale - Cherished Teddies and Boyd's etc if found at thrift stores or garage sales
Cobalt glass - have a lovely collection but don't add to it.
Wizard of Oz stuff - I have a few figurines, dolls, magnets etc. Not a real collector, but just pick up a few things here and there that I like.
Gone with the Wind stuff - just like the above. I have a few Barbie as Scarlett etc.
Tins - just ones I really like.
I have a thing for containers in general. Can't get rid of empty boxes because I might find just the right use for it. LOL. So I have some pill boxes and other knick-knack containers.

I started out collecting Barbie dolls. I figuered out quickly that is an expensive hobby. I began collecting Hallmark ornaments in 1991 when Hallmark had a promotion for a free mini tree if you spent a certain amount of money. I bought just enough mini ornaments to qualify. I slacked off for a few years, but became interested again and have been hooked ever since. My husband and I also collect Star Wars, Monopoly games and other board and trivia games. I love Harry Potter (books and movies) and certain Carlton ornaments (Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, My Little Pony, Hello Kitty, The Simpson's).

Besides ornaments I collect

Coins and Stamps- I have been collecting these since I was little and although I am not a big time collector I still purchase items here and there

Anri-Big time collector. I started with the bottle stoppers and then moved onto other items. Right now I am trying to complete a 6 inch Kuolt Nativity set which has been a multi-year task due to price constraints and availability. I now have approximately 60 of the 100 pieces in the collection.

Duck Decoys-Have about 10 in total but from the best known carvers. I did commission to have a full size swan decoy made from one of the best decoy makers alive today. I had to wait over a year for it but it was well worth the wait and could easily sell for a profit if I wanted.

Metal Lunchboxes from the 1950's-1980's. Most of mine are from the 1960's and 1970's. I have about 75-100 of them.

Washington Redskins memorabilia but mostly pennants. I have never seen a website dedicated to this niche of sports collectibles but I think I have one of the best collections ever assembled. I have been collecting them for 8 or 9 years and have pennants that have only shown up on Ebay once or maybe twice in that entire time period.

Soccer Jerseys-Just getting into them and fairly affordable. Just purchased a match worn David Beckham jersey for a bit over $200 which is not a bad price compared to what you would pay for a game worn Football or Baseball jersey. I don't think soccer has quite taken off here yet so it's nice to pick these items up for a reasonable price because I do think the sport is going to continue grow like gang busters

Finally, I have been collecting original drawings and cels from Peanuts specials like the Easter Beagle, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. Many people don't know that Bill Melendez did all of the animation for these shows...not Charles Schulz. I have about 6 or 7 drawings and/or cels. They were fairly expensive but more reasonable then an original Schulz comic strip. Sadly, I heard that Bill Melendez passed away last week and the gallery where I have purchased most of my items has already called to tell me the news as well as to tell me to hold onto these items because they are already seeing demand go crazy and they aren't quite sure when it will peak out.
